Emulating a client’s account

Savology’s client-let technology makes an advisor's planning efforts more scalable and effective by transferring big portions of the planning process to the client. However, there may be cases when an advisor needs to manage or update a client’s plan without requiring the individual to make the changes themselves.

Client account Emulation allows admins to access, view, and edit any part of their client's plan directly through the admin portal. This includes changes to the Financial Profile, Modules, Literacy Courses, and more. While emulating a client’s account, it treats it as if the admin were the end user.

Turning on Emulation: Not all advisor accounts have access to full client emulation. If you don’t see the option to do so, check with your firm’s primary admin or contact your Savology account manager.

Emulating a client’s account

  • Navigate to User Admin > Users, find the client in the list of active users, and click on their name or email address.
  • On the Summary tab of the user account view, select the Emulate client button under the Actions section, OR select the Actions drop-down menu located on the right side of the main heading and click on Emulate

  • You will begin emulating the account where you can now view the full user experience and make edits.
  • When emulating a client's account, you should see a yellow notification banner at the top of each page.

When finished emulating, you can end the emulation and return to your admin account by:

  • Selecting Back to Admin in the yellow notification banner at the top of the screen; or,
  • Selecting the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the page and clicking End Emulation
  • You can also log out and log back in to end the emulation.
