Create & transfer a plan for a client

Savology’s client-let technology makes an advisor's planning efforts more scalable and effective. However, there may be cases when an advisor needs to create a plan for a client without requiring the individual to go through the standard account creation and onboarding survey process on their own.

With Savology’s Create plan tool, you can create an account, build a plan, and make edits before transferring the account/plan to an individual directly from your admin portal.

Creating a transferrable plan

Navigate to User Admin and click the Create plan button located just to the right of the page’s header

In the modal that appears, carefully review the instructions and details on the first page, then select Next and do the following:

  • Enter the individual’s First Name and Last Name, select a Group (if applicable), then click Take survey to create a new account
  • You will automatically begin emulating the new account and be prompted to take the onboarding survey
  • Complete the survey by answering the questions in each section, and when finished, the financial plan, report card, and relevant action items will be generated
  • You will continue emulating the new account where you can review the user experience and make any necessary edits

Note on Emulation: Emulating a user account allows an admin to review and edit the account and plan as if the admin were the end user. Depending on your account's features and service tier, once the account has been transferred and accepted by the client, advisor admins may no longer be able to emulate the user account.

When finished reviewing and making changes, you have two ways to end the emulation and return to your admin account:

  • Select Back to Admin in the yellow notification banner at the top of the screen; or,
  • Select the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the page and click End Emulation

Transferrable plans will then appear in your list of active users on the User Admin > Users page and have an information icon displayed next to their name

Emulating & making edits to a transferrable plan

Until a transferrable plan has been transferred AND accepted by a client, you can emulate the user and make changes to the account and plan.

  • Navigate to User Admin > Users, find the plan in the list of active users, and click on their name (users with transferrable plans have an information icon displayed next to their name)
  • In the user account view, select the Actions menu located on the right side of the main heading and click on Emulate
  • You will begin emulating the account where you can review the full user experience and make any edits
  • When finished reviewing and making changes, you can end the emulation and return to your admin account by either selecting Back to Admin in the yellow notification banner at the top of the screen or in the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the page and clicking End Emulation

Transferring a plan to a client

Once you’ve created a new plan and have made any necessary edits, you can then transfer it to the client electronically. Transferrable plans appear in your active users list with an information icon displayed next to their name.

  • Navigate to User Admin > Users, find the plan in the list of active users, and click on their name
  • In the user account view, select the Actions menu located on the right side of the main heading and click on Transfer plan
  • In the modal, review the client’s information, enter their email address, and select Send
  • The client will receive an email invite from support@savology.com with a link and instructions to create their account and accept the plan.

For the transfer to be successful, the client must follow the instructions in the email to set up a new account and password. When the transfer is complete, the advisor will no longer be able to emulate the client’s account.

Cancelling or resending a transfer request for a client

You can cancel a transfer request you’ve sent as long as the individual hasn’t yet accepted the invite. If you need to resend an invite, you must first cancel the transfer request.

1) Check to see if the invite has been accepted:

  • Transferrable plans and those that have not yet been accepted will appear in your active users list with an information icon displayed next to their name.
  • Navigate to User Admin > Users, find the plan in the list of active users, and click on their name.
  • In the user account view, if the Transfer Sent tag is listed next to their name, this indicates that the transfer request has been sent, but has NOT yet been accepted.

2) Cancel the request and resend it if necessary:

  • Select the Actions menu located on the right side of the main heading and click on Cancel plan transfer
  • In the modal that appears, confirm that you want to cancel the request
  • Once canceled, you can then resubmit the transfer request by following the steps in the above section, Transferring a plan to a client
